Social Security Number and other Numbers
The following numbers can be valuable source of information in your person background verification or locating a person:
- Social Security number (SSN)
- Military serial number
- Driver's license number
- Vehicle tag numbers
- Street number
- Phone, fax, E-mail numbers
Social Security Numbers in the news feeds
Jo Anne Barnhart, Commissioner of Social Security, and Patrick O’Carroll, Jr., Inspector General of Social Security, issued a warning about a new email scam. The Agency has received several reports of an email message being circulated addressed to “Dear Social Security Number And Card owner” and purporting to be from the Social Security Administration. The message informs the reader “that someone illegally is using your Social Security number and assuming your identity” and directs the reader to a website designed to look like Social Security’s Internet website.
Military Serial Numbers in the news feeds:
Prisoners of war (POWs) are only obliged to reveal their name, rank, date of birth, and military serial number or equivalent information. Physical or mental torture or other coercive measures may not be used to obtain any information. POWs may not be subjected to threats, insults, or exposed to unpleasant or detrimental treatment for refusing to answer.
